A neurological test

I was recently watching a presentation by the renowned neurologist V.S. Ramachandran. The talk was regarding the way our neurons will malfunction due to an accident or to genetic deformations. His research has shown that human beings ALL contain a form of synesthesia. Again, with any neuroses, they are only addressed as a medical problem when extreme misfiring occurs. Good examples of this are: OCD's, Egocentrism, Complexes, etc. Human beings are innately subjected to these "disorders" but they are only in need of treatment should the neuroses interfere with the affected person's life abnormally. He explains that the portion of the brain involved with the ability to memorize and understand numbers, facial and body recognition and color processing is called the fusiform gyrus. The picture below is on the left is a diagram of the brain and where the fusiform gyrus is located.

In the lecture, Dr. Ramachandran explains that 98% of the population retains normal levels of neurological activity between the fusiform gyrus and the rest of the brain. The remaining 2% has "wiring" that is incorrectly connected, meaning the electrodes connecting the sensations of viewing colors and tasting are inadvertently intertwined. The majority of people affected by this malfunction of the brain inherit it genetically from their parents, and their parents and their parents parents.

The image on the right is a test of the cognitive process by which we create meaning out of images. These two squiggles are named KiKi & Booba. Can you tell me which on is KiKi and which one is Booba??? Scroll down after the pictures, I have the answer and the last bit of info.

Most likely you guess the squiggle on the right is KiKi and on the left is Booba. The reason your brain created the answer of KiKi being on the right is the visual stimuli registers the sharp edges in the fusiform gyrus. The image creates spikes in cognitive activity which the brains then visualizes and interprets to have a piercing sound or name. The same reasoning follows for Booba. Interestingly enough, Ramachandran says if you choose the opposite, it means your slightly more prone to synesthesia than the average human being. I am going to conduct this same test only instead of names we will guess ethnicity and the subjects will be Justin Bieber & Justin timberlake.

creative piece I've written close to 2-3 yrs ago. Times are changing.

It happened through the hot summer wind,
we submerged our burning skin,
we enticed, we crept like mice and in the earliest light we quietly spliced...
whatever it means when kids ask "did you do it?": we did it- Hard.

from the start i poured my everything into being the most lovable to you, i vomited money, time, energy, my very life in the hopes that i would be lovable, that I could buy and change my way into being worthy of the love of another person...
i tore my heart out, pounded and crushed it into a tiny heart shaped silver ring,
and then in my insecurity, i asked you to promise dedicate yourself to me, i needed you to tell me, NO MATTER WHAT, I ALWAYS LOVE YOU...but you never did. and there is no one to blame but I.

how could you promise to love me for the rest of your life when it had only just begun?? i was the foolish romantic, I was the instigator and facilitator of my fall into the self-dug pit,
and yet in the end, with all the fear that it would be I who dies the horrible death of rejection,
I killed you.

I promised you bunnies, a girl and a boy. I promised you happiness, a Home, a life that you dreamed of- I PROMISED YOU THE WORLD. and instead I ran.

I ran faster and harder than I have ever,
I burned my tracks into the roads and sidewalks leading away from you, anything to leave you behind. and you were left staring like a blank screen, crying and hoping the electronic memories would hold you, comfort you and tell you it would be ok, perhaps this was just a bad fight and not really the end...

i erased you from my life, any scientist could logically prove it with facts,
but you can never be erased.

there is still a deep hunger for those moments spent together in which the end is so near and the ticking time so intensely bittersweet, and every second i left you cried,
begged me to stay..
you always wished you were strong like me, thinking it was my faith and strength in the love we shared. but you were never witness to the cold 5am airport terminals. the plane rides away. the trips to the ridiculously small and cramped airplane bathrooms mid flight to squeeze into a tiny ball atop the toilet seat and flood the plane with my pain, my sadness my longing to Just HOLD YOU IN MY ARMS.

I saw you still wear my ring in a recent picture. I do not understand what this means but I do know that from the jump I feel in my heart, the sleepless nights I am encountering and the longing in my soul:       BLANK    .

Social network

Jesse eisenberg is hot.

I saw the social network last night, it was an interesting film for the very fact that it seesawed between bad acting/uneven editing and on the flip side: scenes that were so intriguing I forgot it was just a movie I was watching. The most interesting line in the entire movie to me appeared out of the mouth of the actor portraying the president of harvard univ. He responds to the twins aggravation over mark zuckerberg "stealing" their idea by stating, " Student who attend harvard do not think about what job they want to get hired by, they CREATE the job they want.".

my last two thoughts on this:

A-That is exactly why I am going to school.

B-this blog will contain no comments about breast cup sizes or the comparabilities of farm animals and other human beings.

The beginning.

This is my first blog ever. I am going to use this as a platform to communicate with other individuals regarding personal growth, the treatment of different wounds, who is hotter justin timerberlake or justin bieber, existential thoughts and some interesting ideas concerning socio-cultural-psycho dynamic-physiological paralells in modern and ancient populations. And there is no way this is going to be any fun if there is no humor so be forewarned as this is going to contain a lot of sarcastic, dry, childish, sophisticated and repulsive humor.

This is a blog where we bring to the table ideas that have been formed by those with an education, those who are auto-didactic and just the life experiences of individuals who've seen a ton of shit.
